Retire Now! Maybe?

I did! Did I have a retirement plan? No. Did I have a huge nest egg or inherit a bunch of money? No.

Fast forward three years. I am 63 now and my wife is 61. My wife retired six months after I did! We still have a roof over our head (albeit with a large mortgage).
